National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has clarified that the ongoing political crisis between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, does not fall under his purview as APC leader.
Speaking on the matter, Yilwatda noted that Wike remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emphasizing that the dispute is therefore internal to the opposition party. He stated that the APC leadership has no role in resolving issues that arise within another political organization.
The APC chairman further dismissed suggestions that the former Rivers State governor poses a political threat to the ruling party, stressing that Wike’s influence does not undermine the party’s strength in the state. “Wike is not a problem to the APC in Rivers State,” Yilwatda asserted.
His remarks come amid growing tension in Rivers State, where the prolonged feud between Governor Fubara and Wike has continued to divide political allies and draw national scrutiny. Analysts say Yilwatda’s stance reflects the APC’s attempt to remain focused on consolidating its internal structure ahead of future elections.
