Former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has expressed shock over recent claims by Nyesom Wike that he never stole taxpayers’ money during his time as governor and now as minister.

Amaechi said the statement left him stunned, insisting that Rivers people “have never witnessed financial mismanagement on the scale experienced during Wike’s tenure as governor.”

“I was watching him live on national television claiming he never stole taxpayers’ money. I nearly lost my breath — my wife had to bring me water,” Amaechi said.

He challenged Wike to publicly account for the source of his enormous wealth, saying Rivers taxpayers deserve clear answers.
“Let him explain to the people where the humongous wealth came from after claiming he never touched their tax contributions meant for development,” Amaechi added.

Amaechi made the remarks in an interview with journalists on Thursday morning in Rivers State, calling for greater transparency and accountability in the management of taxpayers’ money.
