Nigeria’s Falconets recorded a slim 1–0 victory over Senegal in the first leg of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying fixture in Abeokuta on Saturday night.

Moses Aduku’s side created several opportunities in the game but were only able to convert one.

Substitute Kindness Ifeanyi netted the decisive goal six minutes after the break.

The Bayelsa Queens striker nodded home superbly from Shakirat Moshood’s corner kick.

Falconets’ top striker, Janet Akokoromowei, was forced off the encounter in the first period due to injury.

Both teams will clash in the second leg in Dakar next Saturday.

The winner will advance to the final round of the qualification series.
