Operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) reportedly stormed the Aso Drive residence of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai.
The surprise operation reverberated through political circles, with details of the search still shrouded in uncertainty.
Breaking the news, Muyiwa Adekeye, media aide to the former governor, disclosed the development in a terse statement on X.
“UPDATE: The Aso Drive residence of Malam Nasir @elrufai was today searched by the ICPC. Ubong Akpan, Malam El- Rufai’s lawyer, condemned the action “as unlawful, and a clear violation of legal procedures and fundamental rights”,” Adekeye wrote on X.
The former governor has yet to publicly react, while the anti-graft agency has remained silent on the motive behind the operation.
