It was a sharp start at Polling Unit 18, Post Office, in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) on Saturday as voting kicked off right on schedule for the FCT Area Council elections.
At exactly 9:05 a.m., electoral officials gave the green light after pasting the voter register and allowing party agents to verify details on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
And there was no drama.
The BVAS machines worked smoothly, accrediting voters without glitches as residents lined up patiently to cast their ballots.
Officers of the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigeria Correctional Service were strategically deployed around the polling unit, keeping watch and safeguarding electoral materials.
With a steady voter turnout and calm atmosphere, AMAC’s Polling Unit 18 delivered an early boost of confidence in what many are calling a crucial FCT Area Council showdown.
