The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Kasim Mohammed, the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the duly elected Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council following the conclusion of the council elections.

The declaration was made after collation of results from all wards across the Area Council, where Kasim Mohammed emerged with the highest number of valid votes cast, defeating candidates from rival political parties in a keenly contested election.

Our correspondents report that PDP recorded strong performances in several key wards, reflecting widespread voter support despite reports of voter intimidation, vote-buying allegations, and heightened security concerns during the polling process.

Following the announcement, jubilant PDP supporters flooded parts of Gwagwalada town, chanting solidarity songs and celebrating what they described as “a victory for the people and democracy.”

INEC officials maintained that the election outcome reflected the will of the electorate, assuring that due process was followed during collation and declaration of results.

Chronicles Reporters will continue to monitor post-election developments, reactions from opposition parties.
