Acting Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, on Wednesday stormed the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for his official decoration as Nigeria’s new police chief.
Disu arrived at Aso Rock at about 3 p.m., ahead of the ceremony that will formally adorn him with the rank of Inspector-General.
His elevation comes on the heels of the resignation of former IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, whose departure from office was confirmed by the Presidency on Tuesday.
In a statement, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed that President Bola Tinubu accepted Egbetokun’s resignation after he submitted a letter citing pressing family considerations.
The development marks a swift transition at the helm of the Nigeria Police Force, with all eyes now on Disu as he steps into the top job.
