There was pandemonium in Ubima, Ikwerre LGA, Rivers State, as suspected political thugs set fire to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) office and unleashed gunfire across the hometown of former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi.
The attackers struck Thursday night, raining bullets and torching the party secretariat, sparking panic among residents.
Amaechi, a top ADC leader aiming to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027, was scheduled to visit Ubima on Friday to register at the ward level.
“The thugs mounted a roadblock on Omuawa-Ubima Road, stopping every bus with an ADC banner from entering,” a source revealed.
Security forces rushed in to restore calm, but the overnight assault left the community terrified as investigations continue.
