A fresh wave of defections rocked the House of Representatives on Wednesday as four lawmakers abandoned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers who crossed over from the PDP to the APC are Inuwa Garuba, representing Yamaltu/Deba federal constituency of Gombe State; Abdullahi El-Rasheed of Dakku/Nafada federal constituency of Gombe State; and Mohammed Audu, representing Karim Lamido/Lau/Ardo-Kola federal constituency of Taraba State.
Also switching camps was Obika Chinedu, the lawmaker representing Abuja Municipal/Bwari federal constituency of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), who dumped the Labour Party for the APC.
In a separate move, Adewale Adebayo, representing Irepodun/Olorunda/Osogbo/Orolu federal constituency of Osun State, formally left the PDP to join the Accord Party.
Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, announced the defections after reading the lawmakers’ letters during Wednesday’s plenary.
The lawmakers attributed their decisions to the persistent internal crises rocking their former parties.
