Chairman of the Ogun state Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Abayomi Tella has insisted that the executive committee in the state remains intact till 2028.

Tella stated this on Friday while reacting to the news of the dissolution of the Ogun State Executive Committee, describing it as an attempt to sow a seed of discord in the PDP family in Ogun State.

Recall that National Working Committee had earlier announced the dissolution of the state’s executive committee and appointed 22 caretaker committee members.

The caretaker committee according to a statement signed by NCWC national publicity secretary, Jungudo Muhammed, will be chaired by Ajayi Abayomi and Taiwo Shote as secretary for a period of 30 days until new executive committee is elected.

Reacting to this the Ogun PDP Chairman, stated that the present executive members who were elected on September 24, 2024 remained the only legitimate organ recognized and ratified by the National Executive Committee, NEC of the party.

Abayomi assured members of the public that no dissolution occurred and the excos are intact, emphasizing that they will participate in the 2027 election and come out victorious.

He said, “The present executive members of the PDP in Ogun State were elected on September 24, 2024. By virtue of the party constitution, particularly Section 47, Subsection 1, there is a four-year tenure, out of which we have only used one year and a few months.

If you also look at Section 58, Subsection 1, paragraphs A to N, which stipulate a number of infractions that could be committed before any punishment can be meted out, nothing like that has happened in the PDP in this state.

We have been very peaceful. However, this is a period of politics and all sorts of things are bound to happen. But to our teaming members in Ogun State, we want to assure you that nothing has happened.

“The excos remain intact and will continue to remain intact. We will participate in the election come 2027, we will be on the ballot and we will win the election” Tella stated.

He however, appreciated the leadership of the party at the national level for the reconciliation efforts put in place, maintaining that sacrifice for the betterment of the party was needed.
