U.S. President Donald Trump is reportedly asking his aides to tone down the public image of his mass deportation campaign, signaling a shift in messaging on one of his key policy promises.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal on Thursday night, Trump has directed top advisers to adopt a new approach that reduces emphasis on the term “mass deportation,” which he now believes alienates voters. In private discussions with senior officials and his wife, Melania Trump, the president expressed concern that parts of his administration’s immigration agenda have gone too far.

He reportedly wants attention redirected toward arresting “bad guys” rather than creating public scenes of large-scale removals. The move reflects a broader effort to soften the political optics around immigration enforcement as the administration weighs its next steps.
As of Friday, the Trump administration has not issued an official statement in response to the Wall Street Journal report.
