Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has once again been handed a major responsibility ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention, highlighting a strong vote of confidence in his leadership by the ruling party.
The former Abia State governor and Senator representing Abia North has been appointed to chair the Ceremonies and Programme Presentation Working Group, his second high-profile assignment in the build-up to the party’s crucial gathering, having earlier led the Screening Committee.
Party sources say the development underscores Kalu’s reputation for efficiency, discipline, and his ability to deliver under pressure.
His dual role is also being interpreted as a reflection of his influence within the APC and the confidence reposed in him by key stakeholders.
The committee he now heads is tasked with coordinating all ceremonial aspects of the convention, including the planning and execution of opening and closing sessions.
It will also oversee programme scheduling, stage management, and the overall flow of activities to ensure a seamless and well-structured event.
Other members of the committee include Lawal Anka, Adams Daboturudima, Taiwo Sunmonu, Kabiru Shuaibu, Abu Atayi Yinusa, Yemi Oso, Fatu Jimeta Sabo, David Okategwu, Arc. Samuel Jatau, and Ubong Sam, while Fatima Umar Danejo serves as Secretary.
The success of any national convention largely depends on the effectiveness of its planning committees, especially those handling ceremonies and programme coordination.
With preparations gathering on top gear, expectations are high that the committee, under Kalu’s leadership, will deliver a smooth, well-organised, and memorable convention befitting the APC’s national stature.
