Popular Nigerian comedian, Seyi Law, has reaffirmed his strong support for President Bola Tinubu, declaring that he is willing to “stake everything” on the country’s leader.
Speaking at the All Progressives Congress Convention held in Abuja on Friday, the comedian said his confidence in Tinubu is rooted in his belief that the president pulled Nigeria back from the edge of economic collapse.
Seyi Law pointed to what he described as a remarkable improvement in Nigeria’s financial standing, particularly the growth in national reserves since Tinubu assumed office.
“And I said to myself, if I was to introduce Mr President, how would I do it? And I just said I will let people know that this is a man that I am willing to stake everything for because he is the man that brought Nigeria back from the brink of economic collapse when our national reserve stood at barely $1 billion,” he said.
“But today we celebrate our national reserve that is about $40 billion and our gross reserve that is at about $50.7 billion.”
The comedian had earlier thrown his weight behind Tinubu during the 2023 general elections, endorsing him as his preferred presidential candidate.
However, Seyi Law has not been without controversy. He recently drew backlash after claiming that Nigeria “is currently safer under the Tinubu administration than it was a decade ago.”
Following the criticism, he issued a public apology, admitting that his choice of words was hurtful and describing the statement as a mistake.
