The Kwankwasiyya Movement has confirmed that former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso will officially defect to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, on Monday, March 30.

This announcement was contained in a notice made public on Saturday night.

The defection ceremony is scheduled to take place at Gidan Kwakwasiyya Miller Road, Bompai in Kano state and starts at 12pm.

This marks a huge twist in the political chess play ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.

Kwankwaso had contested for the presidency under the umbrella of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, in the 2023 polls.

He finished in fourth position with 1,496,687 votes behind winner President Bola Tinubu (APC), Atiku Abubakar (PDP) and Peter Obi (LP).

Kwankwaso’s planned defection comes after he met with Atiku in Abuja on Saturday.
