Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebowale Ogundoyin has joined the gubernatorial race ahead of 2027 general elections.
Ogundoyin, who hails from Ibarapa geopolitical zone in the state, made his declaration at a meeting of stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday.
The meeting was held in Igbo-Ora in Ibarapa Central local government area.
It was attended by a member of House of Representatives representing Ibarapa Central/ Ibarapa North federal constituency, Anthony Adepoju, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo and Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wasilat Adegoke.
Others were Alhaji Kamoru Adeyemi, PDP Chairman for Oyo South Senatorial District, PDP chairmen in Ibarapa East, Ibarapa North and Ibarapa Central local government areas, Chairmen of the three local governments in the zone, Kazeem Arogundade (Ibarapa East), Lateef Akorede (Ibarapa North), and Olusola Adeleke (Ibarapa Central), Yemi Taiwo, Mrs. Funmilayo Orisadeyi, Moses Ojoawo, Dimeji Oladapo, Prince Biodun Labiyi, and Barrister Adekanmbi.
Our correspondent reports that Ogundoyin currently represents Ibarapa East State Constituency in the House of Assembly.
It was learnt that the meeting was convened primarily to deliberate on the planned visit of Governor Seyi Makinde to the zone.
It was at the meeting where the stakeholders tasked the speaker to join the gubernatorial race.
Ogundoyin in his response, noted that he is ready to contest the gubernatorial election.
He added that he will contest on the platform of the PDP.
