It was a heavy security presence in Jos on Thursday as Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Plateau State following recent attacks that claimed over 28 lives.

The President’s visit is part of efforts to commiserate with the government and residents of the state and to seek lasting solutions to the recurring violence.

Tinubu touched down at the Yakubu Gowon Airport at about 17:00 hours, where he was received by top political figures and government officials who gathered to welcome him.

Leading the reception was Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, alongside APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Defence Christopher Musa, Senator Jonah Jang, Senator Simon Lalong, and other prominent stakeholders.

Also on ground were Senator Nora Ladi Daduut, newly appointed Nigerian Ambassador to South Korea, and former Governor Joshua Dariye, underscoring the high-level attention the visit attracted.

Security was visibly tightened at the airport, with senior security chiefs deployed to maintain order. Among them were the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, and the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.

Sources say the President is expected to meet with community leaders and key stakeholders in Plateau State as part of a broader push to restore calm and address the root causes of the attacks.
