2027 politics is getting to a boiling point as African Democratic Congress (ADC) Chairman, David Mark, criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, questioning alleged plots to weaken opposition parties ahead of the general elections.

At a charged press conference held at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, Mark reacted furiously to the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to strike out his name and that of Rauf Aregbesola from the party’s leadership on its portal.

The former Senate President turned directly to the President with a stinging question.

“Right now, I speak to Nigerians at home and in diaspora. I also speak directly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu: with 90% of the National Assembly and over 30 of Nigeria’s 36 Governors in the APC, President Tinubu, what are you afraid of?” he said.

Mark didn’t hold back, accusing the ruling establishment of trying to tilt the playing field despite already holding overwhelming political power.

“If you are convinced that you have done well for the people who voted for you, why are you afraid of a free, fair, and transparent electoral contest?” Mark added.

He then delivered another sharp jab, questioning Tinubu’s democratic credentials amid the growing controversy.

“If you are indeed the democrat that you claim to be, why are you bent on destroying all opposition political parties?” he asked.

The political firestorm follows INEC’s controversial move to delist Mark and Aregbesola from the ADC leadership, citing a Court of Appeal ruling tied to the party’s internal crisis.
