Terror struck Mbalom community in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State on Easter Sunday, leaving a trail of death and destruction in its wake.

At least 17 residents were reportedly killed in the attack, while many others remain missing as frantic search and rescue efforts continue.

Eyewitnesses recounted how heavily armed assailants stormed the community, opening fire on unsuspecting residents before setting houses ablaze, forcing families to flee for their lives.

The incident has left the once-peaceful community in ruins, with survivors displaced and properties worth millions of naira destroyed.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities are yet to issue a detailed official statement, though security agencies are expected to ramp up operations to restore calm and hunt down those responsible.
