Singer, Stanley Didah, popularly known as Omah Lay, has opened up about his struggles with conventional therapy, describing the experience as “confusing” while insisting that music remains his most effective form of healing.

Speaking in an interview with Nandoleaks, the artiste revealed that although he had tried therapy on a few occasions, he found little comfort in it.

“I express myself through music. It’s the only therapy I have. I tried to do therapy once or twice, but that didn’t work for me, so I just ran back to it (music),” he said.

Recalling one particularly awkward experience, he added, “The funniest therapy I tried to have was in France. I had this French therapist who wasn’t speaking English, and it was so funny. It was like we were talking about different things.”

Beyond communication challenges, Omah Lay explained that the concept of therapy itself can feel unsettling, as it sometimes creates a sense of being unwell.

“It doesn’t feel right. It feels like you’re sick, and when you go to the therapist’s office, it’s like you validate the idea of being sick,” he said.
