Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has rolled out a show of loyalty and symbolism, presenting President Bola Tinubu with a ceremonial sword while urging him to intensify the fight against crime and corruption nationwide.
The gesture followed the President’s high-profile visit to Ogun State, where he commissioned a series of landmark infrastructure projects, including the Gateway International Airport and the state-owned airline.
Taking to Facebook on Tuesday, Abiodun expressed deep appreciation for the visit and the significance of the projects unveiled.
“Yesterday, I had the honour and privilege to visit and thank the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic, for the historic visit to Ogun State to commission the Gateway International Airport, Gateway Airlines, welcome the first cargo airline, and other landmark projects,” he said.
In a symbolic move, the governor revealed he presented Tinubu with a ceremonial sword, tying it to his traditional title and leadership role.
“I presented him with a ceremonial sword in his esteemed capacity as the Jagaban (leader of warriors/conquerors), urging him to continue his war on crime and criminality, anti-corruption, and particularly as he embarks on the second-term re-election,” Abiodun added.
The message was clear—strength, authority, and a renewed push against insecurity.
He reaffirmed Ogun State’s political backing for the President in unmistakable terms.
“Assuring him that in Ogun State, we are solidly behind him,” he stated.
The President’s visit, which drew national attention, saw the commissioning of the Gateway International Airport in Iperu and the unveiling of Gateway Air—projects positioned as game-changers for transportation, logistics, and economic growth in the region.
Broadcast live, the event highlighted growing synergy between federal and state authorities in driving development.
Tinubu is also expected to continue inspections and commissioning of more projects across key sectors, including transportation, energy, agriculture, and security.
