Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck has signed a new long-term contract with the Bundesliga club, extending his stay at Signal Iduna Park until June 2031.

The German international’s new deal includes a significant salary increase, placing him among the highest-paid players at the club. The extension comes amid growing transfer interest from several top European teams, but Schlotterbeck has opted to continue his career with Dortmund, where he has become a key figure in the team’s defense.

Since joining BVB from SC Freiburg in 2022, the 26-year-old has earned praise for his consistent performances and leadership at the back. His strong tackles, aerial presence, and composure on the ball have made him one of the most reliable defenders in the Bundesliga.

Commenting on the new deal, Schlotterbeck expressed delight at committing his future to Dortmund, emphasizing his trust in the club’s project and ambition to compete at the highest level. Club officials hailed the agreement as an important statement of intent, reinforcing their long-term vision of building around a solid core of top domestic talents.

The contract renewal ensures Dortmund retains one of Europe’s most promising defenders as they aim to challenge for major titles in the seasons ahead.
