OFFICIAL STATEMENT
The attention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abia South Zone, has been drawn to comments by Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu, who was a member of the PDP, but now in APC, insinuating that a gubernatorial candidate has been endorsed by the PDP.
The Abia South PDP categorically states that such claims are false and misleading, particularly as the All Progressives Congress (APC) is yet to formally present any governorship candidate.
The PDP, on its part, remains fully committed to contesting all elective positions in the forthcoming elections. As the most grassroots-based political party in Nigeria, our processes for the emergence and endorsement of candidates are clearly defined and strictly adhered to. Such processes emanate from the appropriate organs of the party and are duly ratified by the National Working Committee (NWC). As of today, no such directive or communication has been received by the PDP in Abia State or Abia South Zone.
It is, therefore, an abuse of process and a flagrant disregard for constituted party authority for any individual or group to use the platform of an empowerment forum or any other gathering to speak on behalf of a big party like the PDP. Such conduct is not only uncalled for but also entirely preposterous to say the least.
We, therefore , we urge all party faithfuls and the general public to disregard the comments , which are mere products of personal enthusiasm and wish of those behind such misrepresentations. Accordingly, the PDP in Abia State, particularly in Abia South, remains committed to consolidating its grassroots base and mobilizing support for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
