Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, has directed his media team, supporters, political associates and affiliated groups to stop mentioning or responding to other candidates seeking the senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 election.
The directive was contained in a statement issued on Saturday, September 19, 2026, and signed by George Maduka on behalf of the senator’s office.
According to the statement, Kalu wants his campaign to focus on his record of representation, legislative activities, infrastructure and human capital development across the five local government areas that make up Abia North.
He urged his supporters to avoid personal attacks, political exchanges and responses to controversies involving other candidates, maintaining that voters should assess candidates based on their records, performance and capacity to deliver.
The statement highlighted several projects and programmes that Kalu’s office attributed to his representation, including the construction and renovation of more than 100 school blocks and classrooms, provision of educational materials and the attraction of more than 70 road projects across the senatorial district.
It also cited overseas scholarships, international training and capacity-building opportunities reportedly facilitated for more than 50 youths and other beneficiaries from Abia North, alongside empowerment and healthcare interventions.
On legislative activities, the statement said Kalu had sponsored bills covering areas including education, security, taxation, agriculture, healthcare, transportation, environmental protection, energy and social welfare since his election to the Senate in 2019.
His office also listed motions relating to the rehabilitation of the Eastern Rail Line, rural water supply in Abia North, healthcare access, renewable energy for health centres, crude oil theft, illegal mining, maritime development, research and innovation, among other issues.
Kalu’s office said the senator had consequently directed his supporters and media team to allow his legislative record, ongoing projects and future plans to form the basis of his campaign.
The statement further called for a campaign focused on issues, development and service to the people, without insults, personal attacks or responses to political provocations.
Kalu also expressed appreciation to residents of Arochukwu, Bende, Isuikwuato, Ohafia and Umunneochi for their support, saying the 2027 election would provide an opportunity for constituents to assess his stewardship.
