Following the fallout from Abdul Ningi’s suspension, the Northern Senators Forum has swiftly appointed Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua as its new chairman, signaling a shift in leadership dynamics.

Ningi’s resignation as NSF leader came in the wake of his three-month suspension from the Senate, prompted by his controversial BBC Hausa interview where he questioned the integrity of the 2024 budget passed in the National Assembly.

Senator Yar’Adua, hailing from Katsina Central and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), steps into the role amidst mounting tensions within the Senate.

In a further shake-up, Senator Tahir Mungono of Borno North has been named as the forum’s spokesperson, replacing Senator Sumaila Kawu, who was warned by the Senate to refrain from sharing posts that could incite unrest in the country.

Yar’Adua, known for his political lineage as the younger brother of former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, brings a wealth of experience to his new position, navigating the delicate balance of power within the Senate amidst ongoing controversies.
