Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has revealed plans for additional medical examinations following his knockout loss to Anthony Joshua on March 9th, as reported by PUNCH Sports Extra.

Despite facing criticism for stepping into the ring against two-time heavyweight champion Joshua, Ngannou asserts his readiness to undergo thorough medical evaluations after the brutal defeat.

In what was deemed a risky move by Joshua, the British boxer showcased a dominant performance, asserting his prowess with a resounding knockout victory over Ngannou.

Ngannou, visibly affected by the relentless assault, acknowledged the need for medical attention post-fight, emphasizing his consciousness immediately following the bout and the subsequent necessity for further tests to ensure his well-being.

Expressing a commitment to his health and longevity in the sport, Ngannou remains optimistic but cautious about his recovery process, highlighting the importance of comprehensive checkups for optimal physical condition.

In his words, “We move, but regardless I feel okay. I was quite surprised that I remember everything from that fight night and coming back to the locker room. Basically I was conscious right after and since then everything has been good, although (I) still need to run some medical work just in case.

“I feel healthy but for the longevity of the sport… we better check and find out if there’s anything that could be done to get better now… I still need more checkups.”

Meanwhile, Joshua sets his sights on a summer showdown against potential opponents Deontay Wilder, Joseph Parker, or Zhilei Zhang, aiming for a title fight following the outcome of the heavyweight bout between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
