Terrorists have launched a fresh assault on the Dogon-noma community in Kaduna State’s Kajuru Local Government Area during the early hours of Saturday, sending shockwaves through the region.

This brazen attack comes merely three days after the horrifying incident in Banono Angwaku, where one person lost their life, and eight women were abducted, casting a pall of fear and uncertainty over the beleaguered local government.

Former chairman of the local government, Cafra Caino, confirmed the latest onslaught, revealing that the assailants descended upon the village around 5.45 am, unleashing terror with indiscriminate gunfire. The precise number of casualties remains unknown, as terrified locals fled for their lives upon the invaders’ arrival.

Caino recounted the community’s tragic history, citing a previous attack in 2019 that claimed the lives of 74 people, underscoring the persistent threat faced by residents in recent times.

The Punch quoted him as saying, “We are yet to get the number of casualties because the locals ran for their lives at the time the assailants invaded the community.

“The community had, some time in 2019, came under heavy attack where 74 people were killed and the community recently has been experiencing attacks.”

The scourge of violence and kidnapping has plagued Kajuru and Chikun Local Government Areas in recent weeks, exacerbating an already dire situation.

Despite efforts to obtain official comment, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, remained unavailable for response, leaving the community and concerned citizens grappling with unanswered questions and mounting apprehension.
