Renowned singer Yemi Alade has shed light on her infrequent award wins in Nigeria, attributing it to her principled stance against succumbing to sexual advances from industry executives.
The acclaimed ‘Johnny’ crooner disclosed that numerous entertainment figures have propositioned her in the past, dangling promises of enhanced opportunities in exchange for sexual favors.
Undeterred by these advances, Alade asserted that she stands firm in her decision to decline such offers, prioritizing her dignity and the unwavering support of her adoring fans.
“There was a time when industry pressure demanded compromising situations, but I chose to uphold my principles. Today, the reluctance to comply with such demands is a contributing factor to my limited accolades in Nigeria,” WithInNigeria reported her as stating.
“Refusing to engage in such activities may have closed some doors, but I hold onto my integrity. I’d rather miss out on certain opportunities than compromise my values.”
