The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has leveled serious allegations against Governor Siminalayi Fubara, claiming he is orchestrating efforts to obtain interim orders aimed at invalidating the state House of Assembly.

During a media briefing in Port Harcourt, the State APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Tony Okocha, calimed that Fubara’s recent remarks, made while addressing members of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, hint at escalating tensions and disrespect towards President Bola Tinubu.

Fubara’s statements, particularly his declaration of “If you dare me, I will surprise you,” and rallying cry of “The next phase is fire for fire,” have raised concerns within the opposition party about potential conflict escalation.

The governor’s assurance of support to NULGE members, coupled with his call to resist intimidation, has further fueled apprehensions within political circles.

However, the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Joseph Johnson, swiftly dismissed the APC’s claims, labeling them as baseless and politically motivated.

Johnson said that the allegations were unfounded, suggesting that they stem from the APC’s apprehension about their diminishing influence in the state.

In his words, “There is nothing like that. They are afraid because they know their fall is near.

“Rivers people spoke yesterday through the NULGE, and that organic love expressed threw the camp of the factional acting APC chairman into this feverish situation.”
