Members of the Concerned Abia Pensioners congregated for a heartfelt thanksgiving service at The Apostolic Church Nigeria, No. 55, Awolowo Street, Umuahia, to commemorate the clearance of their long-overdue pension arrears by the current administration.

Led by chairman John Kalu, the pensioners expressed gratitude to God and the various churches that supported them through prayers during the challenging period of unpaid pensions.

In his remarks, 85-year-old John Kalu lauded Governor Alex Otti for honoring his pledge to settle the outstanding pensions, stressing the significance of celebrating this victory within the walls of a church.

Kalu stated, “We had a very big problem… Our members were dying in thousands because of illness and no money to go to the hospital, no money to eat. We started to pray, we were fasting and praying… So, this time, the Governor has given us what we wanted.”

Apostle Bernard Ugbor, the Pastor in-charge and Area Superintendent of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Umuahia Area, warmly welcomed the pensioners and commended them for expressing gratitude to God for His provision.

He also praised Governor Otti for his compassion towards the elderly, describing him as a commendable leader.
