Yesterday, the Lagos State Police Command conducted a rescue operation for three malnourished infants found confined in a room by their grandmother in the Agodo-Egbe, Ikotun area.
According to Vanguard, the children, aged between two and four, consisting of a girl and two boys, were discovered in a precarious state, dressed only in diapers.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command spokesperson, narrated the rescue operation: “At about 4:00 p.m, information was received at Ikotun Division that three children, a girl and two boys aged between two and four years old, were locked up by their grandmother, one Fatimo Ganiyu, around Agodo, Egbe-Ikotun.”
He further explained that upon receiving the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer immediately led a team to the scene, where they successfully rescued the children and apprehended the grandmother.
“The children were rescued and taken to the station, although they appeared malnourished and unhealthy. The suspect was arrested while the infants will be transferred for proper treatment and care. Investigation is ongoing.”
