A Dana Air plane encountered a runway mishap at the Lagos airport, causing the diversion of other flights to the international airport.

MUK TV gathered that incident happened at about 10 am on Tuesday morning.

In a statement, Dana Air confirmed the incident involving one of its aircraft, registration number 5N BKI, which had flown from Abuja to Lagos.

“We are relieved to confirm that all 83 passengers and crew onboard the flight disembarked safely without injuries or scare as the crew handled the situation with utmost professionalism,” Dana Air said.

“We have also updated the AIB and NCAA on the incident and the aircraft involved has been grounded by our maintenance team for further investigation.

“We wish to thank the airport authorities, our crew for their very swift response in ensuring the safe disembarkation of all passengers following the incident and our sincere apologies and appreciation to the passengers on the affected flight for their patience and understanding,” The Cable quoted the airline as saying.

Meanwhile, a passenger, BelemaMhart, recounted their flight diversion due to the Dana Air incident, highlighting the disruption caused.

This incident comes six months after reports of an engine explosion on a Dana Air plane before take-off from Lagos, a claim refuted by the airline.

In July 2022, Dana Air faced suspension by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for regulatory infractions, resuming operations five months later.
