World record holder Tobi Amusan claimed her fourth national title in the women’s 100m hurdles at the national trials on Monday, clocking an impressive 12.78 seconds.
The 27-year-old sprinter, popularly known as Tobi Express, left her competitors in her wake, with Adaobi Tabugbo finishing second in 13.33 seconds and Faith Osamuyi taking third place in 13.36 seconds.
Amusan’s victory sets her up for a strong bid for a podium finish at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, a feat she narrowly missed in Tokyo four years ago.
The Nigerian athlete will also compete in the African Senior Athletics Championship in Cameroon later this month, where she will be a strong contender for the top spot.
With her sights set on the international stage, Amusan’s dominant performance at the national trials has set the tone for an exciting season ahead.
