Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has urged President Bola Tinubu to be cautious with Kano State politics.

In an interview with Arise Television on Monday, Vanguard quoted Galadima as saying, “The federal government and President Bola Tinubu need to be cautious with Kano politics. It will destroy his presidency.”

He criticized federal support for certain groups in Kano, emphasizing that chieftaincy titles should remain uninfluenced by federal authorities.

Highlighting the resilience of Kano’s people, Galadima recounted how the NNPP triumphed in the 2011 and 2023 elections despite manipulations and forceful tactics.

The elder statesman expressed concern over the judiciary’s handling of electoral disputes, pointing out instances of alleged bias and manipulation.

Galadima urged the Kano governor to assert his authority, even against police advice, to maintain credibility.

He noted that despite police opposition, the Emir participated in local festivities, showcasing local determination.

Advocating for the preservation of democracy, Galadima warned against the creation of state police, fearing it could lead to national disintegration.

He also criticized the current legislative body, accusing it of being filled with businessmen rather than true legislators.

“If some of us could actually collect a piece of indomie worth 200 naira to vote so they could get what they bargained for, I’m disappointed.”

He lamented the disappointing behavior of both leaders and the masses, noting that even principled leaders often change when given power.

“A typical example is the former President, Buhari, I could have bet my life for him on certain issues,” Galadima said while expressing dismay over Nigeria’s political crisis.
