The Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), has successfully dismantled several illegal oil refining sites across Abia State. Rear Admiral John Okeke, the commander of the task force, announced the operation’s success in a statement to the media on Sunday.

According to Okeke, the task force also intercepted 14 boats filled with crude oil in Obuzor, Okoloma, and Komkom Rivers. The operation, led by the task force’s air component, was based on actionable intelligence provided by local residents.

The operation was strategically executed to address and combat illegal refining activities in the Obuzor, Okoloma, and Komkom River regions,” Okeke explained. “We have also engaged with local communities, urging them to cease any illegal activities related to crude oil that threaten the nation’s economy.”

This initiative aligns with the anti-oil theft and illegal bunkering stance of the Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa. The operation is part of a broader effort to combat oil crime and economic sabotage in the Niger Delta region.

We are committed and fully equipped to tackle illegal oil activities and protect the nation’s vital resources,” Okeke asserted. He encouraged the public to continue providing reliable information to assist in tracking down individuals involved in oil crimes and vandalism.
