Human rights activist Femi Falana, SAN, and Deji Adeyanju were among the lawyers who accompanied Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, to the Force Headquarters for questioning over allegations of terrorism financing, among other charges.

MUK TV reported that Ajaero had initially declined to honour the police invitation, citing its abruptness, according to his legal team.

In response to the invitation, widely criticised as an attempt by President Bola Tinubu’s administration to silence opposition, the NLC had called on its members to prepare to shut down the economy if their president was arrested.

Before Ajaero’s arrival at the Police Headquarters today, the Labour Movement had mobilised its members to show solidarity.

However, Chief Falana, the NLC’s lead counsel, advised the workers to remain at the Labour House to avoid a chaotic scene at the police premises.

Falana assured that the situation would be managed effectively by the lawyers from his chambers and others in the legal entourage.

Meanwhile, workers from various unions gathered at the Labour House, with a noticeable police presence in the vicinity.
