German tactician Bruno Labbadia has reportedly declined the role of head coach for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, despite his appointment being officially announced by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

According to the German publication Kicker, the deal fell through due to unresolved issues related to salary and other entitlements, leading Labbadia to back out of the agreement.

Earlier, on Tuesday, the NFF had excitedly announced Labbadia’s appointment as the new head coach of the Super Eagles through their official X handle, tweeting, “The Nigeria Football Federation has announced that it has reached an agreement with German tactician, Bruno Labbadia, to become the Head Coach of Nigeria’s senior men’s national team, Super Eagles.”

Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, the NFF’s General Secretary, further confirmed the appointment, saying, “The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development sub-committee to appoint Mr Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles.”

However, with this latest development, the NFF has remained silent on the matter, leaving the future of the Super Eagles uncertain.
