Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has given a strict warning to governors under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), cautioning them against meddling in the affairs of the party in Rivers State.

Wike, speaking after voting at the Rivers PDP State Congress in Port Harcourt, declared that he would not leave the party for anyone.

He confidently stated that his loyalists had gained control of the PDP structure in the state, despite a boycott by the camp of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

“We are party members, and we have taken over our party members. We will not leave for anybody or allow anybody to take the party from us,” Wike declared, as reported by Daily Trust.

Addressing the PDP Governors’ Forum, led by Governor Bala Mohammed, Wike warned, “Some governors say they will take the structure from us and give it to somebody. I hear that they have given them assurance that they will take the party from us. I pity those governors because I will put fire in their states. When God has given you peace, you say you don’t want peace. Whether you are in Bauchi or wherever, your hands will get burnt. You will never see peace again.”

This statement follows reports that PDP governors have thrown their support behind Fubara at a recent caucus meeting in Taraba.

Wike also sent a clear message to Fubara’s camp, making it known that he wouldn’t beg for political relevance. “They thought we’d come begging, but we’re not begging,” he said.

Despite multiple court orders, the PDP Congress took place at the party’s Secretariat in Port Harcourt under heavy security.

A Rivers High Court, led by Justice Charles Wali, had previously prohibited the PDP from holding ward, local government, and state congresses in Rivers State until a pending suit was resolved.

This was followed by another order from Justice Sobere Biambo, also of the state high court, which stopped the PDP from conducting the congress.

However, a Federal High Court in Abuja later countered these orders, allowing the PDP to proceed with its congresses.

Justice Peter Lifu barred the DSS, police, and INEC from disrupting the events.
