Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has appealed to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to refrain from causing political unrest in Oyo State.

This plea follows Wike’s recent remarks during a public function, where he threatened to ignite political crisis in any state governed by PDP members backing Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara.

Speaking at the Ijaw World Congress reception held in Port Harcourt on Saturday in Wike’s honour, Makinde made his appeal, saying, “Please, don’t put fire in Oyo State.”

Makinde lauded Wike’s achievements as the former governor of Rivers, particularly his infrastructure projects, commending him for his contributions to the state.

“I came to Oyo to identify with my brother and the celebrant of today (Nyesom Wike). When I showed up in Rivers yesterday (Friday), I told him that I brought a peace offering because he has been boasting that he would put fire in some states. I told him please, don’t set fire in Oyo State,” Vanguard quoted Makinde as saying.

“Let me say on behalf of other governor colleagues and past governors here that you have done well for your people, and since I came, I have seen projects that were done during your eight years as governor,” he added.
