The Department of State Service (DSS) has taken a swipe at the legal team of the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, headed by Maxwell Okpara, describing them as “charge and bail lawyers.”
Emefiele’s counsels had filed charges against the Director-General of DSS, Yusuf Bichi, over the continued detention of the embattled CBN Governor.
However, a series of vilifying tweets posted by the Service via its official handle noted that the lawyers were headed by an “overzealous and uninformed IPOB/ESN lawyer.”
The Service tweeted, “Charge and bail, overzealous and uninformed IPOB/ESN lawyer Maxwell Okpara mobilizes other like-minded lawyers against DSS. Futile Efforts. Well, Nigerians, beware! This is in bad faith. Transferred aggression.
“A Biafran Republic agitator and Outlawed IPOB counsel defending the suspended CBN Governor Is IPOB defending one of theirs?
“What a contradiction. What’s the connection? Is someone telling us something? May Maxwell be properly educated on points of law, please.”
MUK TV understands that Maxwell Okpara, the lawyer heading Emefiele’s counsel, is one of the counsels to Nnamdi Kanu, the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
