Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo and former Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), has been elected as the Union’s National President.

The election, held on Saturday at the NURTW Zonal Secretariat along the Osogbo/Ikirun road, saw Akinsanya as the sole candidate.

Delegates from Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti states participated in the election, part of the Union’s Quadrennial Delegate Conference.

The acting National President, Aliyu Issa-Ore, monitored the event and confirmed that the election complied with the Union’s constitution, which allows the designated zone to select and present a candidate for the national presidency.

Issa-Ore, represented by Mrs. Adedamola Salam, Head of Finance at the National Headquarters in Abuja, said, “The Southwest zone has fully complied with the Constitution in electing Oluomo as President.”

During the conference, Tajudeen Agbede was elected as Vice President of the Southwest, while Akeem Adeosun was chosen as the Zone’s Trustee.

After taking the oath of office, Akinsanya, joined by family and supporters, called for unity within the Union.

“I have forgiven everyone who has offended me, and I hope those I have offended will forgive me as well. This is our union, and we must be committed to preserving it. We will not allow anyone to destroy our means of livelihood,” he declared.
