Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has dismissed claims that Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, is qualified to lead Lagos State as governor.
MUK TV recalls that in a communique issued on Tuesday in Owerri, Imo State, the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL) endorsed Seyi for Lagos governor in the 2027 elections.
The coalition, comprising youth groups from across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, praised Seyi as a worthy successor to continue his father’s legacy in Lagos.
Similarly, a youth group from the Middle Belt also threw its weight behind the President’s son, urging him to step forward for the governorship race.
However, Igbokwe, in a Facebook post on Wednesday, strongly criticized the endorsements, describing them as a “needless distraction.”
“Who are these faceless people pushing Seyi Tinubu for Lagos Governor? This is a needless distraction.
“To pull PBAT down is their target. Please allow PBAT to do his very engaging and tasking job. Ruling Lagos is not the job of boys?,” he wrote.
Igbokwe expressed concerns that such moves could detract from President Tinubu’s administration, stressing that leadership in Lagos demands experienced individuals, not what he referred to as “boys.”
