Aero Contractors, Nigeria’s oldest airline, has announced a minimum fare of N80,000 for domestic flights during the festive season, applying the new rate across all its routes.
Addressing journalists on Tuesday, Ado Sanusi, the airline’s managing director, explained that the initiative, which runs until January 2025, is to ease travel costs and spread the holiday cheer.
“We have understood the pains Nigerians have been going through because of the economic hardship, the high prices of tickets, and the holiday season is nearby,” TheCable quotes Sanusi as saying.
“So, Aero Contractors has decided to announce a Christmas initiative, we call them, pocket-friendly Christmas prices. These prices are designed to allow Nigerians to travel to all our destinations without paying too much,” he added
As of Tuesday afternoon, Aero’s economy ticket from Lagos to Abuja was priced at N99,643, with business class fares at N189,167.
Sanusi stressed the airline’s commitment to affordability, saying, “Our prices will start from 80,000 to all of our destinations, and we intend to make it affordable to the flying public. And this is to allow the flying public/families to meet their loved ones during this Christmas season.”
Despite the reduced fares, Aero assures profitability, leveraging its fleet of three aircraft for operations. Sanusi also encouraged other airlines to emulate the gesture by “giving back to the customers.”
