Google’s “2024 Year in Search” report for Nigeria has revealed that figures such as Bobrisky, Beta Edu, Shallipopi, and Ogechi lyrics dominated the search trends this year. The insights provide a reflection of what captivated the attention and interest of Nigerians in various areas, including entertainment, politics, and pop culture.

Bobrisky, the popular crossdresser and social media personality, frequently made headlines, possibly driving significant interest in searches.

Beta Edu, a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, also garnered attention, reflecting the public’s engagement with political developments.

Shallipopi, a fast-rising music artist, and his creative outputs were widely searched, showcasing his growing influence in the entertainment industry.

Ogechi lyrics, likely from a trending song, demonstrated the popularity of music and the importance of lyrics in connecting with audiences.

According to Mr. Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Communications and Public Affairs Manager for Google West Africa, the Year in Search offers a unique lens into the priorities and curiosity of Nigerians. It tracks search activity to reveal the year’s most significant cultural, social, and political trends.

The trending personality search in 2024 was led by Bobrisky, followed by Beta Edu; global search was Donald Trump, while search on death included Junior Pope, Herbert Wigwe, among other searches.” he said.

This year, Nigerians continued to demonstrate a strong interest in entertainment with movies like “A Tribe Called Judah,” “Treasure In The Sky,” and “Damsel,” topping the movie charts.

The top television series that captured the interest of Nigerian netizens included “Supacell,” “My Demon,” and “Queen of Tears.”.

“In the culinary world, Nigerians explored diverse recipes, with the ‘Pornstar Martini recipe” leading the searches.

’In Nigeria, this year’s results show a continued interest in the political and economic landscape, with searches related to the U.S. elections, the new national anthem, and the national grid topping the news category in this order,’’ he added.
