Former President Muhammadu Buhari has claimed that Nigeria’s security and economy saw major improvements during his eight years in office.

Speaking on Wednesday at his country home in Daura, Katsina State, Buhari made this assertion while receiving members of the Katsina State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists.

He stated that he inherited a struggling economy and serious security challenges from the Peoples Democratic Party, which governed the country for 16 years.

However, he insisted that his administration implemented strategies that effectively addressed these issues, reducing terrorism and economic difficulties.

“Nigeria’s security and economy improved significantly under my administration compared to what we met in 2015. Things will continue to improve in Nigeria,” Punch Online quoted Buhari as saying.

The former president also acknowledged the complexities of governance, emphasizing that only those in positions of power truly understand the challenges involved.

On his part, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Yusuf Ibrahim-Jargaba, praised Buhari’s efforts in combating terrorism, banditry, and other security threats during his tenure.

He also commended the former president for his dedication and selfless service, stating that his leadership played a key role in maintaining the country’s unity.
