The Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri has upheld the election of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe of the APGA as the winner of the 2023 National Assembly election for Abia South Senatorial District.
The Court consequently dismissed the Appeal filed by Mr. Chinedu Onyeizu of the Labour Party for not complying with Paragraph 18 of the 1st Schedule of the Electoral Act 2022.
The Appeal Court also held the appellant’s lawyer liable for applying for the issuance of a pre-hearing Notice without affixing his seal of the Nigerian Bar Association.
It will be recalled that the Tribunal had previously dismissed the LP’s candidate petition for lack of merit.
