The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, broke down in tears on Wednesday as he publicly apologised for errors in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Oloyede said, “I apologise for the trauma caused the candidates,” acknowledging the distress the mistakes had caused to thousands of affected students.
At the start of the briefing, Oloyede admitted to “one or two errors” in the conduct of the 2025 UTME, marking a rare emotional moment for the usually composed academic.
He, however, did not mention the nature of the mistake, which could be attributed to the poor performance of students in the nationwide examination.
