Controversial Nigerian street-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has turned to spiritual intervention, undergoing a public deliverance ceremony.
The ‘Zazoo Zeh’ crooner took to Instagram to share videos of the ritual, where he was surrounded by individuals clad in white garments performing a cleansing ritual. During the intense prayers, they poured water over Portable’s head, declaring, “You have overcome your enemies. Evil shall no longer find you. God’s mercy will cover you and protect your family from harm.”
Known for his dramatic demeanor, Portable appeared visibly moved, gazing skyward and making animated gestures throughout the ceremony.
This spiritual turn comes after a series of controversies involving the singer. In March, gospel artist Testimony Jaga accused Portable of exhibiting “demonic manifestation” during a previous encounter. Jaga claimed that since their meeting, Portable had been restless, attributing the issue to the singer’s alleged use of “juju” (traditional charms), which he termed “fake.”
The controversy intensified when Portable assaulted a preacher at his bar in Ogun State in September, sparking public outrage.
In response, Jaga gave Portable a three-day ultimatum to apologize, which the singer ignored.
Subsequently, Jaga and his music team visited Portable’s bar, where the singer was seen kneeling and tearfully apologizing amid chants of “God is the king. Jesus is here” from the crowd.
