The former Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali, has caused a stir online after posters indicating his interest in the Yobe Senatorial District primaries circulated on social media over the weekend.
From all indications, Usman Baba, barely two months after his compulsory retirement from the Police Force, may have decided to throw his heart in the ring for the Yobe South senatorial district election under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), following the resignation of the current senator, Ibrahim Geidam, to become a minister.
Recall that Geidam, who is the serving senator representing Yobe South Senatorial District in Yobe State, was among the second batch of ministerial nominees forwarded to the red chamber by President Bola Tinubu last week.
The poster of the former IGP vying for a senatorial position has stirred mixed reactions among Nigerians on social media.
