The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has moved to reconcile the governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, and the former governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha.

The reconciliatory move became necessary as the APC, with Governor Uzodimma as its candidate in the November 11, 2023 governorship election in Imo State, is looking forward to retaining power in the state.

Uzodimma and his predecessor have been at loggerheads in a supremacy battle over the affairs of the Imo APC, a political impasse that began in 2019 before and after the party’s governorship primaries in the state.

On Thursday, Ganduje took both men to the presidential villa to meet with President Bola Tinubu, but they could not see the president because he was in another meeting, MUK TV learned.

In the absence of President Tinubu, the APC National Chairman, Governor Uzodimma, and former Governor Okorocha, in the company of the governor of Lagos State, Sanwolu, met with Vice President Shettima.

Sources in the presidential villa told MUK TV that another meeting will be rescheduled for President Tinubu to meet with Uzodimma and Okorocha, as the APC is not leaving any stone unturned in ensuring the party emerges victorious at the Imo state governorship polls.

The fight among the two political giants, who hail from the same senatorial district, the Imo West Senatorial District (Orlu Zone), has for long polarized the APC in the state and, if put to an end, will brighten the party’s chances of victory at the governorship polls.
