Nigerian content creator Victor Nwaogu, popularly known as Nkubi, and his wife recently spoke out about the negative comments they face from online trolls.
#Muktv had previously reported that a Facebook user sparked reactions after posting a photo of Nkubi’s daughter with the caption “Main Labubu.”
In an interview with BBC News Pidgin, the couple who are parents to a young daughter explained why they include her in their family skit videos.
Describing their daughter as a gift to their family, they said featuring her in their content helps people get to know her. Nkubi also emphasized that he wants to shield his daughter from the harsher aspects of social media.
The couple reflected on the criticism they faced in person when they first started dating but noted that the online harassment has been far more intense.
Nkubi’s wife, who mentioned their plans to have at least one more child, added that she avoids reading comments to maintain her mental well-being.
We wan give our pikin a bright future, we want to make people know her, I don’t want the situation to catch her unaware. Social media dey amplify both judgment and hatred. The bullying has been ongoing since we started dating. Some people would taunt us when they see us together, but online bullying is much. To protect my mental health, I avoid the comment section. turned our family around,” Nkubi and his wife said.
